    2010-06-08

China New Energy Development Forum and book release ceremony of Energy Revolution- Changing the 21st Century was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on June, 6. Cheng Siwei, Former Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Liu Hanyuan, Standing Committee member of the CPPCC, Standing Committee member of China Democratic National Construction Association, Board Chairman of Tongwei Group, Yang Shubing, Information Research Division Director of the State Council, Tian Shaolong, President of China Yanshi Press, Gong Qiao, the Chief Editor, Liu Jiansheng, Energy Research Institute Director of Southwest University of Finance and Economics, along with over 200 personages from political, business, media, academic and the publishing circles attended the ceremony.

The forum was held by National Association of Industry and Commerce, New Energy Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise Committee of China Democratic National Construction Association, China Yanshi Press of Research Office of the State Council, New Energy Research Office of Southwest University of Finance and Economics, and Tongwei Group Co., Ltd.. Written by Mr. Liu Hanyuan and Mr.Liu Jiansheng, the book Energy Revolution- Changing the 21st Century is greatly supported and recommended by Cheng Siwei, Former Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Chen Changzhi, Vice Chairman of the NPC, and Huang Mengfu, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC.

Vice Chairman Cheng Siwei addressed the ceremony. He believes New Energy will lead the next industrial revolution after the former three Revolutions led by steam engine, electricity and computer. He said, developing new energy is of great significance. It can reduce our reliance on fossil energy, and reduce carbon dioxide emission. Besides technological breakthrough, economic support, fiscal policy, monetary policy and regulation supports from government are also needed. Also, new energy’s real development depends on the market.

Mr. Liu Hanyuan made a keynote speech at the ceremony. He said, Energy is the indispensable material basis for human survival and development. Energy development and utilization is an important indicator of economic development, as well as scientific and technological level of an era or a country. It also has a direct bearing on sustainable economic development and people’s living standard. PV power will become the major energy supply form as well as economic growth point in future. It is bound to give impetus to sustainable and rapid development of human economy and civilization. Meanwhile, China’s vigorous development of PV industry can help itself establish a good image in environment protection, energy conservation and emission reduction in the world. This is not just an issue at energy security and economy level, but more importantly, at morality and sense of responsibility level. It is also the necessary requirement of being a responsible global power.

We made a comparative analysis of solar energy, wind power, biomass, hydropower and nuclear energy in terms of their respective traits, energy distribution and utilization technology. Based on the analysis, solar power generation owns the advantageous traits that other energies cannot rival with: safe, reliable, and noiseless. Furthermore, it is not subject to geographical restrictions of resource distribution.

PV on-grid price can well integrate policy and market. It is thus of great importance in scientificity and effectiveness. It is already proved that China’s industry development has received marked effects from the implementation of On-grid Price Law for wind power and biomass power. Currently, the sharp contrast between China’s PV industry and market makes the domestic PV industry vulnerable and weak to risks. As a result, the industry is suffering severely from the financial crisis. Therefore, the most scientific and effective measure for the industry to fight against the financial crisis is to activate China’s PV market and fuel domestic demand by implementing On-grid Price Law as soon as possible. This is also the way to promote rapid, healthy, and sustainable development of PV industry. Mr. Liu Jiansheng and the Chief Editor Gong Qiao also aired their views on the significance of energy revolution, and specifically introduced the book to the audience.

Major media including Xinhua News Agency, CCTV, China Radio International, Phoenix TV, Sichuan TV, Beijing TV, Chengdu TV, people.com, China Youth Daily;, Global Times, Chinese Economy Daily, Southern Weekend, Beijing Times, 21st Century Business Report, China News Weekly, Solar Energy Magazine, China Energy Report, Chengdu Business Daily, and Chengdu Evening News, gave specific reports of the ceremony.
